Issues and Solutions to Diffuse Pollution

 

Workshop Speaker :

Dr. Barry M. Evans

Dr. Barry Evans is currently a senior scientist affiliated with the Penn State Institutes of Energy and the Environment (PSIEE) at Penn State University. He has a B.S. degree in Natural Resources from Ohio State University, a Masters degree in Environmental Pollution Control from Penn State University, and a Ph.D. in Soil Science from Penn State University. During the early part of his career, he worked in various private sector and government agency positions specializing in environmental mapping and impact assessment. More recently, he has been involved in a wide range of water quality assessment projects, including the development of specialized GIS-based software applications (e.g., AVGWLF, MapShed, AVStreams, PRedICT, AVNPSTool and SWAP-GIS) to support watershed modeling, nutrient trading, TMDL assessment, drinking water protection, and evaluation of pollution mitigation strategies (e.g., urban and agricultural BMPs) at the watershed level. Dr. Evans has worked on water quality-related projects sponsored by many state, regional and federal agencies in the U.S., and has provided technical expertise to such diverse groups as the Mexican Institute of Water Technology, the Environmental Agency of England and Wales, the National Water Commission of Israel, the Oceanographic Institute of Argentina, and to local and provincial groups in Ontario, Canada.
